A passion for science and tradition
At Dotty's Pharm we share a passion for modern science, steeped in centuries-old traditions of country cures and curious concoctions.

We believe in the power of nature which is why all of the ingredients we use are 100% natural and hand-picked.
Applying the knowledge carefully curated by our ancestors for thousands of years, now with a modern understanding of the science of oral tolerance we are able to bring you nature's most powerful tonics for seasonal wellbeing. Read more about the science behind our pollen and honey suspension.
Oral tolerance - Training the immune system, one grain of pollen at a time

Oral tolerance is a lesser-known but scientifically proven immunological process that we all possess. Awareness of this extraordinary mechanism is sadly rare, but we are on a mission to change that!

Oral tolerance is the immune system’s way of learning not to overreact to harmless substances that enter the body through the mouth—like food proteins, good bacteria and environmental particles. Every day, your gut is exposed to thousands of foreign molecules, many of which could, in theory, trigger an immune response. But thanks to oral tolerance, your body avoids unnecessary inflammation. It does this through a sophisticated immunological education system built into the lining of your intestines.

When you eat, tiny fragments of proteins from food are absorbed by specialised cells in your gut lining called antigen-presenting cells. These cells hand over the protein-based information to regulatory immune cells, which act like peacekeepers. Instead of launching an attack, these regulatory cells send signals to the rest of the immune system saying, “This is safe, this is food—DO NOT react.” Over time, your immune system learns that these substances are not harmful and develops immunological tolerance to them. This helps prevent allergies such as hay-fever, food sensitivities, and autoimmune diseases.

A key player in this process is a type of white blood cell called the regulatory T cell (Treg). These cells suppress overactive immune responses and help maintain balance, or immune homeostasis. By training these cells over time we can teach our immune systems to treat pollen as food, not enemy. We do this by careful, measured dosing of ingested pollen over time. This results in the training of Tregs specifically to pollen proteins which then instruct the immune system not to react when it encounters pollen. The result? A significant reduction (and in some cases, complete resolution!) of hay-fever symptoms including itching, sneezing, rashes, congestion and rhinitis. We don't (are not allowed to) make claims about the effectiveness of our products, but our customers can say what they like! Read the science and our reviews, maybe even try it for yourself and you can decide!
